Someone has told me to clear my cache. What is that and how do I do it?

Your cache is where your browser stores the files for the web pages you view.  Every time you view a web page, there is the page that you view plus all the images that are on it. Your cache will store those files on your computer so that the next time you go to that page, it won't take as long to load the page since it just "pulls it from your cache". Here are the steps to empty out that temporary internet folder so that you can go back and reload the page in question so you can see any changes made to it since the last time you were there.

If you use Netscape Communicator:

  1. Open Netscape
  2. Choose "Edit" from the menu at the top
  3. Choose "Preferences" out of the resulting pop up menu.
  4. Double Click on "Advanced"
  5. Click on "Cache"
  6. In that window choose "Clear Disk Cache"
  7. Click OK

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Choose "Tools" from the menu at the top of the browser
  3. Choose "Internet Options" from the resulting drop down menu
  4. In the middle of the box that pops up, where it says "Temporary Internet Files", click on the button that says "delete files"
  5. Click Ok

If you use AOL:

To clear the browser cache (Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and 5.0)

    1. From the My AOL menu on the AOL toolbar, click Preferences.
    2. In the Preferences window, click WWW.
    3. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files.
    4. Click OK.

To clear the browser cache (Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02)

    1. On the My AOL menu on the AOL toolbar, click Preferences.
    2. In the Preferences window, click WWW.
    3. On the Advanced tab, click Settings.
    4. In the Empty Folder section, click Yes.
    5. Click OK.
